Desiraju Hanumanta Rao's prose rendering with embedded explanatory notes
The source cites the Vishnu Purana on the seven cosmic wind-divisions the Maruts come to preside over: aavaha pravahava caiva samvahaH ca udvaH ca tathaa | vihaa aakhyaH praivaahaH paraavaha iti kramaat -- named Avaha (pervading clouds, thunderbolts, rain, meteors), Pravaha (the solar orbit), Samvaha (the lunar orbit), Udvaha (the galaxies), Vivaha (the planetary spheres), Parivaha (the Seven Sages' sphere), and Paravaha (the north polar regions), also called Gagana, Sparshana, Vayu, Anila, Prana, Praneshvara, and Jiva. Each Marut has a further batch of seven, totaling forty-nine entities.
